The importance of geochemical analysis in exploration

I’ve been diving deep into geochemical analysis lately, and it’s fascinating how it can uncover hidden mineral resources. Just last month, we identified a promising copper deposit using advanced techniques like ICP-MS, which offered insights we previously overlooked. I’d love to hear how others in the field are leveraging geochemistry in their exploration projects.

I totally get it, , geochemistry is a game changer! Last year, I used some of those ICP-MS techniques on a site, and it helped pinpoint gold that we would’ve missed otherwise. Just be cautious with sample collection — contamination can really skew your results.

I hear you on contamination — it’s crucial to have a solid sample collection strategy. In my last project, we set up double-blind sampling which really helped minimize cross-contamination, and it made a noticeable difference in our analysis. How do you ensure the integrity of your samples?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

But exploring the potential of geochemistry really does drive me nuts sometimes, especially when you think of all the deposits we might overlook. I worked a project last spring where we used ICP-MS too, and it was incredible to see a low-grade zone deliver some high-grade surprises. A solid database on sample locations helped us avoid contamination issues — check it out if you can, it makes a huge difference.
